Aligning Your Devotion with Vastu
Selecting a murti for your home is a deeply personal journey, but following Vastu Shastra principles ensures that the energy in your home remains balanced and harmonious.
1. The Ideal Size for Home Mandirs
In Vastu, it is generally recommended that a murti for a home temple should not be taller than 12 to 18 inches. A murti that is too large can overwhelm the domestic energy of the house. For larger bungalows or dedicated prayer halls, you can go up to 2.5 or 3 feet, but 12-15 inches is the "golden ratio" for most apartments.
2. Material Matters
White Marble is considered the most Sattvic (pure) material for home use. It promotes peace and mental clarity. Avoid using broken, cracked, or "hollow" murtis, as they are believed to leak energy.
3. Directional Placement
- Ganesha & Lakshmi: Northeast (Ishan Kone) is best.
- Hanuman: Should face North to ward off negative influences.
- Radha Krishna: East or North to attract love and harmony.
The Finishing Touch
Always ensure the murti's face is at the eye level of the devotee when they are sitting or kneeling to pray. This creates a direct connection between the soul and the divine.
